I watched the below video after seeing the title.
At first, I thought it was a bit of a corny title but then it got me thinking. How has IT certification affected my life? I have to admit that every cert I’ve taken has had a positive impact on me.
In 1999 I was in law enforcement but wanted to make a change. Passing the CompTIA A+, Network+ got me into a helpdesk role. I finally had my first break into IT.
I Passed
Within six months I’d passed my CCNA which got me a job with Cisco Systems. I studied hard there and passed my Cisco CCNP. When job redundancies came I had the confidence to start teaching and consulting.
Doing the consulting work helped me to buy a house for my family to live in. As you know, buying a home for your family to grow up in is a fantastic feeling.
I eventually used my knowledge to start teaching online. This allowed me to work from home and spend a ton of time with my kids from babies to the present day. It’s also allowed me to help tens of thousands of people from all over the world to better their work and personal circumstances.
Don’t get me wrong, for the vast majority of us, studying isn’t fun when you compare it to stuff like going out for coffee or watching movies but the short-term pain has far-reaching benefits that do nothing but good things.
Check out some of the case studies on my homepage. All of the people there experienced big changes in their lives as a result of getting certified. I highly recommend you do the same.
Have Fun
