We often take things for granted in the world of IT. I'm sure your friends and family expect you to instantly fix their smartphones, program their TV and set up their home audio. I've even been asked to fix the PA system at my daughter's school because I'm in IT!
But for those inside the industry there are a few things you really are expected to understand because it's bread-and-butter work. I'm talking about things such as subnetting, IPv6, VLANs and the subject of today's blog post which is VPNs. Even if you are a programmer, web designer, project manager or general network support tech you really must know the basics.
I've sat in meetings in my early years in IT and had to bluff my way through because I didn't understand how certain technology or protocols worked when I really should have. Please don't let that happen to you.

Take our popular Cisco CyberOps Associate course or CompTIA Security+ if you want to learn more.
