Okay, before you think I’m going to reveal a big secret or you shout at me saying it’s impossible, I’d better come clean.
I occasionally get e-mails like the one I just read:
“Hi,
I need to pass the CCNA and CCNP in the next 3 months. What is the fastest way and do you have a roadmap?”
I supposed it could be done IF you already have a reasonable amount of networking knowledge AND if you have the next 3 months off work, but really, what is the point? The whole idea behind the exams is demonstrating knowledge you have acquired, not being able to pass the exams.
Imagine getting on a plane where the pilot has crammed for every exam. Not a nice thought. He might be able to land and take off, but if something unusual happens or there is a mid-air emergency, he will probably be unable to cope with the situation.
Certification is a journey and not a destination. I know I’m probably preaching to the converted here, but in today’s society, I see so many people looking for the quick fix for everything: fitness, wealth, and exams.
You pass the exams by putting in a consistent 1-2 hours every day. I’d say, at the current level of difficulty, CCNA and CCNP can be achieved in around 12 months if you are starting out from a Network+ level of understanding. Some will be quicker and some slower.
Have fun.

I agree with Paul that 12 months is a realistic time scale. If you can be focused in your studies and dedicate the time You can achieve the full CCNP certification and be true NP level engineer. Hands on experience is vital.
i think 12 month is reasonable, less pressure as well but we all know there are people who are blessed, they can do this course in few months and still come up with great result… i wish i was like that
